Early Childhood Programs

Below are the early childhood programs within the Mecosta Osceola Intermediate School District (MOISD) service area. These programs are offered at no cost for families meeting eligibility requirements. Children must be 3 by September first, to be considered for placement in the NEMCSA Head Start programs. Children must be 4 by September first for GSRP classes. Enrollment and contact information is listed below. 

Early On Services

 Provides services to children from birth to three with medical/health conditions and/or developmental delays. (Mecosta-Osceola Intermediate School District)

Early Head Start

Federally funded program, free for income eligible families, provides home visits, group experience, parent meetings, etc. for families with children prenatal to age 3. (Mid Michigan Community Action)

 Mecosta-Osceola Slot Process

Great Parents-Great Start

     A home visitor is offered to families with infant, toddler, and/or preschool age children. The personal home visit included activities for parent and child together, developmental screenings, community resource information, etc. (MOISD) 

MOISD Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) and NEMCSA Head Start preschools complete applications as a partnership. Please call far an appointment to start the process. To complete the initial applications, the following documents must be provided:


  • Proof of income from the previous 12 months from date of the application
  • Child's legal birth certificate
  • Current immunization card
  • Medicaid or other health insurance card
  • Parent driver's license or other proof of residency
  • Copy of child's last physical exam, if available. (It is not necessary to bring your child to this appointment.)
